I have family from Cal, that live out there now, in Texas! They all work for my cousin roofing business! He built the roof for Long Beach,Cal's "Spruce-Goose", when they moved it up to Oregon. But, in Texas they say Everything is Big! Try their Big Huge Barbecue's they have everywhere, this time of year! Good Luck!

Probably need to narrow it down a little bit. Texas is huge and even central Texas is too broad an area.
Assuming you are talking about the Fort Worth area (more or less central Texas), I would recommend Hemphill's place.
Visit Hemphill's and you'll get a place that offers a Mexican menu an emphasis on fish and steaks. Expect the average entrée to cost under $8.

I am always happy with Clem Mariska's BaroQue. But if you are looking for just a bit better and fair prices, the "Texas Roadhouse" always has worked for me.
