Question:
Which meal would you pick?

My employer is taking everyone and their spouses out to dinner to a nice restaurant (very nice for my family's budget!) and emailed us our dinner options. As one who is not well acquainted with fine dining, and as I will probably not have another dinner like this 'til next year, I ask your help in deciding which *two* options are worth tasting!

Food connoisseurs and food fans alike, help me out!

Menu:

Wood oven roasted ½ chicken served over banana squash, chipollini onions with an herbed chicken jus

Oven roasted filet of salmon with quinoa, roasted pine nuts & sun-dried cranberries

Hardwood grilled double center-cut pork chop with scallion mashed potatoes, balsamic onions and pan juices

Tuscan pulled pork and beef meatloaf served with parmesan mashed potatoes and summer berry sauce

Traditional Tuscan spaghetti with house-made meatballs

Hand-cut 12 oz New York steak served with asparagus and roasted garlic mashed potatoes (all orders prepared medium)

Polenta-crusted snapper with saffron risotto

Pork osso buco with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts & truffle jus

I believe they specialize in Italian cuisine, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

my money is on:

Polenta-crusted snapper with saffron risotto

or

Pork osso buco with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts & truffle jus

I would go with the second one myself, but they both sound delicious.

btw-I just watch a lot of cooking shows.

None of that is actually Italian; it does sound Italian influenced (Italian-American). In the 13 years I lived in Italy, I had a lot of spaghetti and I had meatballs, but you don't see them together often. My choice would be the hardwood grilled double center-cut pork chop with scallion mashed potatoes, balsamic onions and pan juices. The 2nd choice would be the polenta-crusted snapper with saffron risotto

They all sound very good. However the spaghetti would be my last choice seeing how no matter what you do its still only spaghetti. Dont waste a choice on that one. Between the others they all sound very good and I dont think you could go wrong with any but I would then ask myself do I prefer fish, pork or steak? If you dont have a personal preference I would then probably eliminate the pork chops then possibly the chicken since they seem to be more common and generally the cheaper of the dishes.I like steak and its usually one of the pricier items on the menu but if it was me I would go for one of the other two pork dishes as well as one of the other two fish dishes. Dont get two pork or two fish...try a little variety. Personally I think the Pork osso buco sounds very good as well as the Polenta-crusted snapper. Those are two choices your not going to get anywhere else.

Tuscan pulled pork and beef meatloaf served with parmesan mashed potatoes and summer berry sauce - that sounds lovely- I love pulled pork... yum

Hand-cut 12 oz New York steak served with asparagus and roasted garlic mashed potatoes (all orders prepared medium) - if you're not experienced in fine dining that would be an excellent safe choice :)

Enjoy

I would choose one of the following :

I think the Snapper is a good choice.. I like the fact that they prepare it with polenta (very italian)..

Steak is always good, and is might be one of the more expensive of the choices...

or

Spaghetti with home made meatballs (but only if the spaghetti is homemade)

Enjoy your night.. SOunds like you have a nice employer.

I would go for the steak or the fish. (if you like seafood that is.) Salmon is pretty yummy, and snapper is okay too. I usually order seafood when at nicer restaurants though. I love it. The pork sounds good, but pork is kind of easy to get a hold of in the grocery store . Fish and steak are a bit nicer.

My mouth is watering but, if it's a one time a year...Take the steak! Cooked medium with garlic potatoes...very nice. Bon Appetite! You might like to finish with sherbet orange or raspberry if they have. ;-D
