Question:
Do waiters get drug tested?
2009-05-14 19:39:21 UTC
I am 19 and enjoy some occasional weed and I was wondering if they get drug tested and how often from people with experience. Thanks in advance! Im also talking more about common resturants like Applebee's and Ruby Tuesday. Please answer if you personally know from experience or know someone who works as one.

Hahaha if restaurants drug-tested, do you know how many 19 year old college kids would be out of a job?

It varies but it is more likely that the chains will test you, especially if it is not franchised. I think you will see that done more and more often as the test is rather cheap nowadays and the potential problems if they don't is perceived to be great. I have heard that weed can be detected as much as a month later so I would suggest you stop well before you apply. As to how often, it is at the managers discretion but I doubt if they will pick you out and test again unless they suspect that you are using. Note that they can and will decide to test everybody or everybody in a shift if they suspect only one person.

I'm not a waiter, but my brother was for many years, and I can tell you right now, if he got drug tested for weed, he would have been fired on the spot LOL. BUT it all depends on the company. Most places only drug test you when you get hired, and never again. Some places have "random drug testing" Which means they can test you anytime, without notice. And some places just don't ever.

I can tell you that if you get hurt, you get drug tested immediatly, that goes for any job, at any company. They will usually tell you when you fill out the application what they do, because they don't want to waist time and money on you if you think you can't pass. DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK THEM, YOU WON'T BE THE FIRST!!!!!!!! GUARANTEED

You take a drug screening test and can be tested at discretion of manager after that. Like worker`s comp injury or acting goofy on the job.

That's totally up to the company's policy. If you are injured on the job then yes you will be tested.

Every business is different. I worked at Embassy Suites and they never tested me.
