Why in the world do they only pay you like a normal waitress? You should be getting paid what most buffet waitresses get paid, about $5 around here. People don't tip as much, since we get our own food and all. I usually tip $2.50 or so. I'd quit and work somewhere else.

Wow, honestly I the only time I went to a Golden Corral, I think we left about a $30 tip (that was like $1 per person, we were on a youth trip). I will seriously think about leaving more the next time I go to one.

I've worked as a waitress at several jobs. Even working on a ship for 2.25 but having to pay for my car to be in a garage afterwards. If it's a big party then leaving more than the 15% is best. But a small party can leave 15%, more if I take really good care of them.

Good day to all the Golden Corralers, workers and customers alike. J hope what I have to say will be an encouragement, as it is intended. I work in an industry that generates tips, as well, bus driving. As a result, I benefit from Golden Corral's policy of free meals to drivers since we bring such a large group at once and can have sway over their food choices. I like to give back/pay forward where I can and deeply appreciate those who know how to serve well. I wish I had more to give but in this case, $5 was it, so that was the tip. I am hoping it puts a smile on the server's face and heart and make her day a little brighter. Just might help make up for the others I notice leave nothing. Having been in that position, I can empathize with them. It does help to see realistic accounts of what life for those in other industries. Keep up the good work those who serve others! Without you, like would be so much darker and unfriendly. Hope this has blessed each of you.

One thing to keep in mind at Golden Corral is how much these servers have to work for you, they are clearing multiple plates for you, much more work then a normal restaurant. The mess left behind is also unbelievable, in a nice restaurant most people would not be as thoughtless. Also if you are there for 2 hours that is holding up the table for them to make money. Please be kind and tip a few dollars a person, make someone's day better. Remember it all comes around sooner or later : )

I would leave about $1.75 if it is just one person eating. I have not been there for a long time.

I always try to leave at least 15% tip, unless the service was really bad. I know that wait staff work really hard for their money and you guys have to put up with some rude people. Sometimes it's not even your fault if the food is wrong or cold or awful.

I waitress at a regular restaurant, and I always thought buffet waitresses got paid minimum wage plus tips. But when we did go to one, (they changed it to a Charlie Brown's), we always tipped $2-$3 for my husband and I.
I always thought you got paid better at those places. Obviously I was wrong. But I will remember that for futher use!!

I so understand how much you work..I worked at a buffet called Barnhill's in Jax, FL and you bust your *** the whole time. I got a party of like 2 adults and 8 kids once...made a huge mess and left me a couple penny's..OMG I was cussing the rest of the night. Yeah I say atleast a dollar a person unless you are there for 2 hours and got special orders or requsted a lot then $2 a person. I think everyone should have to work in the food industry once in their lives just to see how it feels, then people would get tipped better and paid more respect too. Its like that movie, Waiting....he get's a lousy tip and tells the guy to keep it, he obviously needs it more..haha
Oh man, thats a good movie for every one to watch, then they wont be so rude to people they dont even know that is handling their food.

Well being a sever and working in the industry for years I don't feel that Golden Corral has severs they are mere bussers I have done full service fine dining for years and I feel a dollar is fine per person no matter what and I feel Golden corral should pay more than just server pay

When I go out to a place that "requires" gratuity, I start at 15% and adjust depending on the level of service. Most of the time, I ll end up rounding the bill ($29 and some change typically goes up to $30).
That said, I rarely tip at Golden Corral for one main reason: I very rarely carry cash. At fancier restaurants, I can tack on the tip when I pay for the food at the end. At GC, I pay beforehand and don t get an option to add anything for gratuity. It s ridiculous that they pay you guys so little, but it s even worse to require us to carry cash when you can pay for everything else using the plastic.

I agree that you should get a decent tip. My dad works at the golden corral and even if you are really good at your job (as he is), you only get paid that wage and you do rely on tips. I dont pay the tip seeing as i only go out to eat with my parents but we realize that you do need tips to make ends meet so we always tip well.

I leave like 1 or 2 dollars person. I'm a waitress at Waffle House and we get paid like 2.75 an hour. So basically i also rely on others to tip so i can pay my bills also...please start tipping wherever you go if it requires for you to tip someone.

I couldn't agree with this post more even though it's a little old. No matter where you are if someone is providing their services and helping clean up after you Or giving you food TIP ! We rely on tips. Please realize that servers make at MOST 4.91 and we have the same bills anyone else would have. !

I always tip 15%, unless the service is extremely good or bad, then I adjust to the service received. I have on a few occasions left only a penny! The service was that bad!

Usually $2 dollars per person at the table & I usually go there on double dates so $8 is usually left behind.
